Every year, the world turn its spotlights to Lyon for an international celebration of the "seventh art" during the Lumière Film Festival. As a central player in this prestigious festival, Lyon events is proud to host the Prix Lumière awards ceremony at the Amphithéâtre 3000 in the Lyon Convention Centre.
This exceptional occasion reflects the long-term commitment and mission of Lyon events (the umbrella organisation representing GL events' four venues in Lyon), which draws on its acknowledged expertise to promote culture and art in the Lyon area.
The Prix Lumière: When Lyon shines under the light of the projectors
Since its creation in 2009, the Prix Lumière has become a genuine reference event for film enthusiasts. Awarded each year during the Lumière Film Festival, this prestigious prize acknowledges a personality who has marked the history of the "seventh art" through their talent, influence or career. The name "Lumière" pays tribute to Auguste and Louis Lumière. These two brothers were early pioneers of cinema and legendary figures in the history of Lyon, who made the first film in the world, entitled "La Sortie des usines Lumière à Lyon", in 1895.
The Prix Lumière award ceremony is one of the highlights of the festival. As the host venue for this annual event, the stage of the Amphithéâtre 3000 has welcomed some of the biggest names in world cinema, including Pedro Almodóvar, Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino and Jane Fonda. Over the years, it has become the iconic venue for the festival's closing night. The Prix Lumière award ceremony offers cinema fans a unique opportunity to meet internationally renowned stars. This event reflects a long-standing tradition of transmission and sharing, blending history and modernity, which has enabled Lyon, the birthplace of cinema, to establish itself as a reference city on a global level.
For its 15th anniversary, the Prix Lumière was awarded to Isabelle Huppert, one of the most distinguished actresses in world cinema. With over 150 roles to her name, she has developed a unique style, working with renowned directors such as Claude Chabrol, Michael Haneke and Paul Verhoeven.
Audiences were treated to a retrospective of the actress's greatest films, as well as moving testimonies from artists who have been inspired by her career, and a screening of Claude Chabrol's "Rien ne vas plus"
